Hi! I’m so glad you stopped by! I hope you’re enjoying the blog and all of my recipes!
I have always loved baking for as long as I could remember. I have amazing memories of spending time in the kitchen with my mom making cut out cookies and frosting cupcakes. When I was REALLY young, I remember dreaming about the day I would move on from my simple ‘sprinkle duties’ to when I could mix the batter and work the oven myself. I thought it was so exciting and I just loved being in the kitchen! As I grew older and became exposed to new flavors and new recipes, I found myself baking something at least once a week. When I finally moved out and into my own place, I became even more obsessed with expanding my skillset and working with new ingredients and techniques (even if they don’t work out at first!).
Owlbbaking.com was created by me in 2016 as a means to share my favorite recipes with family, old friends and a hopefully a few new friends. My blog page was more of a side-hobby and just for fun. At the start of 2018 I decided to take my page to the next level and build up my site, and here we are today! I love continuing to share my family favorite recipes along with twists on old classics.
WHAT WILL I FIND ON OWLBBAKING.COM?
First and foremost, you’ll discover a collection of hand picked, tested & approved recipes. If you love all things cake, cookies, pies, brownies and every other sweet treat you can imagine, then you’ve come to the right place. You won’t find dinner or salad recipes here. OBB has a sweets only policy. 😉
I’m very selective of the recipes I put on my site. I have two conditions when deciding on a recipe to make; it’s gotta be SUPER delicious and have perfect texture; the bite, the crumb, the chew…whatever it may be. Basically, for me to decide to post a recipe for chocolate chip cookies, it’s going to be everything you expect a classic chocolate chip cookie to be. I do my best to describe everything about the recipe in my posts and I LOVE taking macro shots from all angles to show you every detail.
I also love experimenting with unexpected flavors! Like my Brown Butter Sea Salt Crispy Rice Treats with a Bourbon Whiskey Glaze & Coconut Rice Pudding.
Also, for those that know me it’s no secret I have a bit of an owl obsession! Pairing my passion for baking with my love for all things owls only natural. I love discovering adorable owl-themed kitchen accessories.
WHAT’S YOUR BLOG STYLE?
You will find my blog posts contain a limited amount of text, and I try and keep the step by step photos to a minimum. I really try to create a nice balance of both so you can spend less time scrolling looking for the recipe and more time baking!!
A FEW FUN FACTS about me
- Jersey born & raised, although I’d rather be somewhere on the coast of Maine.
- Current Fave shows: All the Netflix hits, Ghost Adventures and Fixer Upper.
- Foods I cannot live without: Taylor Ham Egg & Cheese on an Everything Bagel, a slice of good NY pizza, warm Fresh Mozz…hah, can you tell I’m Jersey-Italian? Oh, also Rice Krispie Treats and Strawberry & Vanilla Frozen Yogurt (always with an extra side of sprinkles).
I’m not afraid to try something new
My motto is to try everything at least once in life. Everything should be experienced, even if it scares you…like that time when I decided to go shark diving. A huge item on my bucket list! Granted, yes, I was in the confines of an aquarium, but it was enough of an adrenaline rush that I don’t need to go to open waters. I’m not sure if you can tell by the picture, but the bars of the cage were pretty wide; a shark could have easily stuck his nose in there. Hah! Anyway, it was a SUPER cool experience!
I LOVE projects and DIY things
I have dabbled in all kinds of crafts (paper quilling, polymer clay, card making, painting, pottery) and I’ve even done large projects such as refinishing furniture and renovating a kitchen. I even assembled the cabinets and tiled the backsplash myself. I’m actually kind of obsessed with home renovations!
I’m a HUGE animal lover (that’s my boy, Oliver)
We adopted Oliver in 2013 and he brings so much joy to our lives. He loves to play, he’s VERY talkative and he loves to sit at the kitchen island and keep me company while I’m baking. His favorite foods are cod, fresh spinach leaves & smoked turkey pastrami. This cat eats better than I do!
…and best of all, I’m married to the most wonderful person.
Our wedding was an absolute dream. Fun lil tidbit, I forgot to take my black hair tie off my wrist for all of our first look photos (my one piece of advice to every bride-to-be!). Thank goodness for Photoshop!
