I'm so glad you stopped by! I hope you're enjoying the blog and all of my recipes!
I'm Liz and there's no better way to summarize myself than simply, I love baked goods. My sweet tooth pretty much dictates my palate; cookies, cake, brownies, pies, tarts, pound cake...you name it, I guarantee I won't be passing on dessert!
Growing up, I always baked with my mom and grandmother. These traditions are at the core of my love for baking, but I always felt eager to try new recipes and learn more about different baking techniques.
Now that I'm an adult, I spend all my spare time doing just that.
Experimenting with new flavors, testing out different baking methods and developing recipes isn't just a hobby, it's a passion.
If you can't find me, owl be baking every weekend and in all my spare time. I truly put my heart and soul into my recipes and happy to be sharing them with you!
Food blogging and food photography naturally grew as my blogging journey blossomed. My photos/recipes have been featured with Zulay Kitchen, The FeedFeed and Foodgawker. If I'm not actually baking, I'm probably blogging, taking photos and collaborating with the food blogging community!
Why Owls?
Don't worry, I don't have some creepy obsession with these birds. My house isn't completely covered in owl decor and pictures (although, my husband may tell you differently!)
I just really enjoy and admire these majestic animals. The first time I really felt connected to them was when I visited The Raptor Trust, here in New Jersey. I got to see them up close and personal. They're amazing!
Also, owl decor is really cute. I try to sneak some in my photos here and there.
A FEW FUN FACTS
-Jersey born & raised, although I'd rather be somewhere on the coast of Maine.
-My baking is heavily influenced by my Italian ancestry. I truly enjoy living la dolce vita!
-Nothing makes me more happy than: Strawberry & Vanilla Frozen Yogurt in the summer (always with an extra side of sprinkles).
-I have the most adorable cat. We adopted Oliver in 2013 and he brings so much joy to our lives. He loves to play, he's VERY talkative and he loves to sit at the kitchen island and keep me company while I bake. His favorite foods are cod, fresh spinach leaves & smoked turkey pastrami. This cat eats better than I do!
-I'm not afraid to try something new. My motto is, try everything at least once in life, even if it scares the living crap out of you! Like that time when I decided to go shark diving. I've never before experienced a panic attack for a solid 25 minutes, but it was a SUPER cool experience!
-I LOVE DIY things. I have dabbled in all kinds of crafts (paper quilling, polymer clay, card making, painting, pottery...) and I've even done large projects such as refinishing furniture and renovating a kitchen. I even assembled the cabinets and tiled the backsplash myself.
...and best of all, I'm married to the most wonderful person.
My #1 taste tester and fan! Rob & I enjoy working on this blog together and his ideas are the inspiration behind a lot of my recipes, such as Cadbury Creme Cupcakes and Norwegian Krumkake.
Our wedding was an absolute dream. Fun lil tidbit and tip for any brides to be out there; I forgot to take my black hair tie off my wrist for all of our first look photos.
Thank goodness for Photoshop!
